French Toast Review

I enjoyed this book a lot because it almost felt like a friend was talking to me about her life. The main character Sydney is super personable and I truly enjoyed her humor and references to pop culture. (Who doesn't enjoy a very specific reference to Mr. Darcy?) 

I know that this book, and the other two in the series, are based on the author's own life and I would love to know just how true to life they are! I also really liked that even since I had not read the first one, that I was able to fully enjoy this book. But I can assure you, I will DEFINITELY be reading the other two! So if you want a very pleasurable read that is easy to read and highly entertaining and full of lots of emotion, pick this book up!

Glynis never expected in her wildest dreams to be a writer. After thirteen years in the Human Resources Industry, she decided to stay at home with her two amazing sons. Ever in search of a project, she was inspired to write the story of how she met and married her wonderfully romantic French husband, Sebastien, in six short months. The end result became her first novel, French Twist.

As this novel is only the beginning the story, Glynis has just released the sequel, French Toast and has begun writing the final chapter in the trilogy, French Fry. When she is not writing, she is trying to keep the peace amongst the three men and two cats in her life, finding missing body parts (Lego pieces are small!), supervising a myriad of homework assignments and keeping a tenuous hold on her sanity by consuming whatever chocolate is in the vicinity.

A Moral Dilemma Review

A truly captivating book with a bit of intrigue, drama and deception, this was chick lit entertainment at its best! The book had a bit of everything including fashion, love and the high life and all set in London, a city I truly do love. The plot was a bit slow at first but then caught up and stayed quickly paced with a lot of laughs along the way.

The first book I have read by Zara and I really do hope it isn`t the last!

Luckily I was born and raised in a City I love living in: London, UK. And it’s just as well, as I can barely afford to go on a camping holiday much less move. I have a gorgeous 9yr old daughter, yeah, I’m a single mom, (judge me later), and I like to think of myself as a yummy mummy, when in reality I’m still working on shifting this damn cellulite of my ass. I do actually make it into the gym from time to time, but mainly to appreciate the…ahem …view :)

So what kinda stuff do I write?

Well, I write what I love reading, Romantic Comedy and the original kinda British ChickLit. I don’t do vampires, werewolves, or horror, because sheesh, I wanna sleep at night. In my bed. Not underneath it. So if you like Bridget Jones or Shopaholic, then you might dig my stuff.

My heroines are women in their late twenties / early thirties. My heroes are hot, cute and not too hunky. My stories are about life, love and friendship, with a few twists and turns and tons of fun. They’re not particularly deep, nor meaningful, they’re a lighthearted, easy read, that go well with a glass of wine and a few chocs, and just might make you laugh out loud

Hold Her Down Review

I found this book super frustrating but possibly because I can't imagine ever living my life the way Elizabeth does in it. I can't imagine living in an abusive relationship of that type of being that incredibly unhappy and unfulfilled yet continuing to live my life that way. But then again, I have never been in a situation like this so I probably shouldn't say I would never live that way because until you have been in that person's shoes, you obviously shouldn't judge them.

I did find the book a little bit difficult to read at times because of the way it was written. At first it wasn't easy to know that the narrator was no longer speaking and the main character was. It wasn't exactly clear but once I got used to it, it did work though it was something I haven't experienced before.

This book does touch on a very important topic so it is probably not for everyone because of the sensitive nature of the subject matter but is definitely worth a read.

Unwell Review

This book was definitely one that was hard to read but impossible to put down. The main character was so raw and honest about everything in her life that at times it was so difficult to keep reading but it was also so captivating that I could not stop even if I had tried.

The story is quite a sad one with the hurts and betrayals of an ordinary life adding up to someone who feels like they don't deserve happiness and cannot provide it to their own child. Being a young mother, it truly hit home. This is definitely a must read as I have never heard a voice quite like this before!

Marie is a former teacher, education evaluator, and engineer. A lifelong student, she has degrees in degrees in chemical engineering, teaching, an MFA in writing, and a doctorate in educational leadership. Her writing focuses on bilingual and English-only children's books that feature mixed families, as well as literary and contemporary fiction focused on Asian and Asian American characters.

Conditional Love

This was exactly the type of book that I love - every quintessential chick lit element that you always hope for in a book was there! It was a true pleasure to read about Sophie and her exploits and not only because I love everything English but that was definitely a huge plus for me. I started this book and truly did not want to put it down as I fell in love with the characters immediately. I dare even say it was like falling in love with chick lit all over again. And I love the book cover so much as it is a picture I would frame and put on my wall without hesitation. I cannot wait for her next title to come out and am definitely going to add both to my favorites collection.

The New Ever After

I first discovered Julie Farley less than a year ago but I immediately fell in love with her writing with Tripped Up Love so I was really excited to read this next installment in the series. And of course she completely delivered. I completely loved hearing about how the lives of Heather & Peter evolved - it almost felt like I was hearing about what was going on with close friends. For anyone who wants to read a great story about real characters who will make you both laugh and cry, I would totally recommend these books!

When Girlfriends Take Chances

I have been a fan of Savannah's writing since I read When Girlfriends Chase Dreams last year, so I was super excited to read this latest installment. I have to say that I definitely wasn't disappointed and basically gobbled this book up as it was so addictive. For anyone who wants a great chick lit read, the story of Emily is definitely one you will want to read (and you will want to pick up her other books as well!) The story definitely inspired me to take my own chances.
