The Wisdom of Hair Review

I absolutely adored this book from the beginning with the mother's obsession with Judy Garland and Liza Manelli and her obvious mental issues to the daughter's moving on to beauty school and her obsession with her landlord and his tragic past. The story progressed to a wonderful tale from another time about a country girl who grew up in the mountains and people's perceptions of her and the way they treated her. A real coming of age tale that I thoroughly enjoyed! (Plus the cover is gorgeous!)

Kim Boykin learned about women and their hair in her mother’s beauty shop in a tiny South Carolina town. She loves to write stories about strong Southern women, because that’s what she knows. While her stories are always set in South Carolina, she lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, three dogs, and 126 rose bushes.
